SMTP Integration – Configure Custom Email Delivery in Directify

Overview

SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) allows you to send emails through your own mail server or a third-party SMTP provider. This integration ensures reliable email delivery for notifications, user confirmations, and transactional emails in Directify.

1. Setting Up SMTP Integration

  1. Navigate to Settings in your Directify dashboard.
  2. Select General Settings and scroll to Email Providers.
  3. Choose SMTP as your email provider.
  4. Enter the required SMTP details:
    • SMTP Host (e.g., smtp.example.com)
    • SMTP Port (587 for TLS, 465 for SSL, or 25 for non-secure)
    • SMTP Username (your email address or assigned username)
    • SMTP Password (password or app-specific password)
  5. Select the encryption method: SSL/TLS or None.
  6. Click Save Changes.

2. Testing and Troubleshooting

  • Use the Test Email feature to send a test email and confirm the connection.
  • If emails are not being delivered, check:
    • Correct SMTP credentials (username and password).
    • Ensure the SMTP server allows external connections.
    • Verify port settings and encryption type.
  • Check your SMTP provider’s logs for any delivery failures or blocked attempts.

3. Benefits of Using SMTP

  • Full Control – Use your own email server for sending emails.
  • Cost-Effective – No additional API costs.
  • Better Deliverability – Emails come from your own trusted domain.

Conclusion

With SMTP integration, Directify allows you to use your own mail server for seamless email communication. This ensures your directory’s emails are delivered securely and reliably. If you encounter any issues, consult your SMTP provider’s documentation for additional support.
