Google Maps Import
Launch a full directory in an afternoon. Google Maps Import solves the cold-start problem every directory builder faces: type a niche and a location — like "coffee shops in Portland, OR" — preview real businesses from Google Maps, and import the ones you want as listings.
What gets imported
- Complete business details — name, full address and city, phone number, website and map coordinates, so listings appear on your map views right away.
- Opening hours — stored in your hours custom field when your directory has one (the Local Business template ships with it).
- Photos — the business's main Google photo and logo, downloaded into your directory's storage.
- Google reviews — the 10 newest reviews per listing, or the entire review history with the All reviews option; every review shows the author's name and a link to their Google profile.
- AI-written content — with OpenAI or Claude connected, every import gets a unique card description, page content, and SEO title & meta written by your own AI provider. On by default; your manual edits are never overwritten.
Key Features
- Zero setup with import credits — no API keys or configuration. Buy a one-time pack (from $9 for 100 listings), search for free, and pay only for what you import. Credits never expire, work across all your directories, and skipped listings are refunded automatically.
- Search like a human — plain-language queries in any language: "zahnärzte in Berlin" works as well as "plumbers in Austin, TX". Results preview with photos, ratings and review counts.
- Duplicate-proof — every imported listing remembers its Google place ID; already-imported businesses are marked in search results and never imported twice.
- Publish or draft — imported listings go live immediately by default, or import as drafts to review first. Assign a category during import and refine later.
- Bring your own Google key (advanced) — connect your own Google API key for unlimited imports with no credits.
How to Set Up
- Navigate to Content > Google Maps Import in your admin panel.
- Search for a niche plus a location, e.g. "wedding venues in Austin, TX".
- Select the businesses you want — use Select all and Load more results to work faster.
- Choose your options — category, publish or draft, photos, AI enrichment and reviews — and click Import. The import runs in the background and you get a notification when it finishes.
💡 Tip: pair imports with claim listings — fill your directory with the businesses in your niche, then invite them to claim and maintain their own listing. It's the classic local-directory growth playbook, built in.
