Accept payments with Stripe for paid submissions — choose between the Standard integration or Managed Payments (MoR), where Stripe handles taxes and compliance for you.

Stripe Integration

Accept payments for paid submissions with Stripe — one-time payments, subscriptions, and now full merchant-of-record support if you would rather hand tax and compliance work to Stripe. Monetize your directory with a smooth, secure checkout that works the same across every template.

Two ways to charge

Directify supports both of Stripe's integration modes. Pick the one that fits your business when you connect your Stripe account:

  • Standard — You are the merchant of record. You handle taxes (VAT, sales tax), refunds, fraud, and chargebacks yourself. Best if you already have a business entity and want full control over the payment flow.
  • Managed Payments (MoR) — Stripe acts as the merchant of record for your sales. Tax collection and remittance, invoicing, refunds, fraud, and chargebacks are handled for you. Fees are higher, but you skip all the tax and compliance overhead — ideal if you sell globally and do not want to register for taxes in every country. Standard is the default. You can switch to Managed Payments at any time, and existing directories are not affected.

Key Features

  • One-time payments and subscriptions for directory submissions.
  • Pull plans straight from Stripe — create products and prices once in your Stripe dashboard and sync them into Directify with a single click.
  • Secure restricted API keys — Directify uses scoped Stripe Restricted Keys (not your full secret key), with a one-click link that pre-fills the exact permissions needed.
  • Automatic webhook setup — the webhook endpoint and signing secret are created for you when you verify credentials.
  • Real-time payment tracking via webhooks: subscription created / updated / deleted, customer created, checkout completed.
  • Test mode aware — Directify detects test keys and shows a clear indicator so you never go live by accident.
  • Customizable payment page — set your own tagline, title, description, and post-plans content for the checkout screen.

How to Set Up

  1. Enable Paid Submissions in your directory settings.
  2. Select Stripe as the payment provider.
  3. Choose your Stripe ModeStandard (default) or Managed Payments (MoR).
  4. Create a Restricted Key in your Stripe dashboard (Directify provides a one-click link that pre-selects the required permissions) and paste it in.
  5. Click "Verify credentials and pull plans" — Directify registers the webhook endpoint, stores the signing secret, and imports your active products and prices.
  6. Review your plans and optionally mark one as a bestseller, set a custom button label, or add feature bullets.

How It Works

  • Users pick a plan on your directory's payment page.
  • They complete checkout on a Stripe-hosted page (in the mode you selected).
  • On successful payment, the submission is linked to the customer and moves into your approval queue.
  • Subscription lifecycle events (renewals, cancellations, failed payments) keep the listing status in sync automatically. Monetize your directory the way that fits you best — keep full control with Standard, or let Stripe handle the paperwork with Managed Payments. 🚀
